Prior knowledge and ICT literacy are very important factors in the learning process. A pilot study was conducted in a self-selected group of students in the School of Education, in the University of Ioannina in order to improve their ICT skills via online courses. It was found that the majority of under- graduate students had sufficient capability in ICT usage and frequent Internet access. Only few of them had acquired this knowledge in formal secondary education. Moreover they appeared to be able to control their learning (self regulated learning skills). A large number of them believed that they didn’t have the appropriate prior knowledge for getting their degree. They preferred to have had some additional tutoring in order to improve their performance. They wanted courses to be transmitted via mobile devices. The content of these courses combines prior with current learning material and we may call them bridge courses. Results of this study revealed that bridge courses can be helpful.
